Has anyone bought and ran one of these? How do they run? How does the MN Scheme look? And what was the best price you found it for?

Saw this at about 6:55 pm last night around Newark. Couldn't believe I counted 12 m.u.'s , but there they were.

Today I heard the portal bridge got stuck open - NJT and Amtrak are really bad. I mean, there are more days with problems than without. All the money invested in trackwork, signal work, new equipment, and it seems to run as bad now as 10 years ago.[/quote] And what railroad are you in charge of main...

I was on a NEC train scheduled to arrive in NY at 8:40am. The PA in our car must have been broken, because we had no announcements about the problem. I found out about it on my phone - and assumed it had to be more than 1 broken down train to cause that much trouble. Needless to say, we arrived 1 ho...

While we're on the subject, does anyone have a good paint color for the MetroNorth/CDOT red/orange? What's seen on the old FL9s and M2's?

Thnx

Re: finally, an NJT app for iphone

Why bother wasting 5 dollars to waste space on your iPhone with another meaningless application when you can just get a free public time table? You can get them at just about any station and they provide the correct and current information. They seem to have been doing the trick just fine the last ...

Re: Solari Flip signs at Newark Penn

The worst are the ones at NY Penn Station - the signs next to the tracks on the Exit Concourse for NJT. They are usually scrambled, or near impossible to read. Combined with the condensed-font TV departure boards down there, the Exit Concourse may have the worst electronic signage in the whole syste...

I agree, it's very annoying that the timetables are out of date. $5 for a dedicated app, and it's out of date. I was really liking the app, including the hidden feature of being able to tap on a station name in Map view and get a list of every train leaving on every line from that station. I guess i...

Re: GRAND' AMTRAK DETOUR

They can make changes to deal with service disruptions, but station names can't be changed, and the destination can't be left blank. In short, the customer information system at GCT cannot handle Amtrak trains. If there were a way to do it, even if kludgy, they would have done it. I was there Satur...

Just got back from GCT. There were 2 Amtrak consists, using tracks 34 and 35. One had a NH Genesis leading an Amtrak Genesis - the other had 2 NH's leading the Amtrak. Amtrak has an information area set up outside the Station Master's office where they're organizing ticketing/baggage/shuttling. Took...
