If that 12 year old Italian/Catholic school kid was an degenerate alcoholic skell, I'm sure it wouldn't have made any difference whatsoever. But there are no more Italians in that neighborhood, so it's a moot point.

jhdeasy, I think at one time, it was called Shell, but I believe it's referred to now as CP216. I recall the interlocking being reconfigured possibly 7-10 years ago, maybe the new name came with the new interlocking. We would pick up an Amtrak crew by Q Tower, usually on the eastward passenger track...
Is there any website or publication which I can read more about this area? I'm in the area visiting and find it very interesting.
This one was taken on October 6, 2009 at 10:45 PM on LIRR Roustabout 7. We are headed east here at Amtrak's CP216 on the NYS line at a stop-signal. Metro-North M7as are in tow, which will be handed off to a Metro-North crew and 8 more cars will be brought back that night to Bombardier's Arch Street ...
I took this picture on January 3, 2010 at 3:01am in Ronkonkoma yard. It was after a big snowfall and the two engines were out plowing to Greenport and return the hours prior. I was called out to run RFX2 with a Conductor and Roadforeman aboard at 1am. We left shortly thereafter, ahead of #3200, enco...
C-Liner, any reason why the plow is missing on the 226 in your photograph? Very nice, by the way.
I have a slide of the switch for Edgewood dated either '71 or '72 and back then, it's still connected to the main. The spur would have left the main right where the distant signal to Pilgrim would have been or current day JS interlocking. Little by little, the existing spur is being cut back. Maybe ...
I passed by there a few days ago and noticed the same thing. Everything is gone. And it must mean something, because a couple of the hoppers towards the back haven't moved in years. I think some were used for storage. I would say either track maintenance, siding rehabilitation or they'll unload some...
It's nice to see the Company finally making investments into locomotives (and finally buying one) after 17 years of existence. Thanks for the info fellas.
First off, I had heard through the grape vine that NYAR purchased the 156 outright from LIRR for an undisclosed amount. Wanted to see if this was true or not. Second, I was forwarded a picture of the 156 going through Oak Point this morning coupled behind CSX engines. I heard a few months ago this e...
It's common to hear the Yardmaster tell a train he "has it in with the signal and the UB". Translation is: train has permission into the yard with the proper signal and a hand sign from the UB.
Rumor has it, there are still two or three cars buried near the site of the derailment.
Kids threw the main track switch for Pilgrim after an eastbound train passed the distant signal displaying clear. The train went into the siding at a high rate of speed causing the derailment.
DOTX 216 was on the North Engine Layup track in Harold as of 345pm on 2/21. Looks like it's leaving the Island.
There's current LIRR passenger yard trackage that is worse than what is pictured above in Fremont. That's not bad at all.
Current day, the tower is gone and there are two or three new tracks that NYAR has added for storing cars.
