Good god no, these cars are absolutely awful. - zero accessibility. it's 2024. - extremely inefficient boarding and unloading with a single door per car in the middle - awkward second level that requires backtracking if there are no seats I remember the first time I rode these cars in 2007 and could...

The app has always supported multiple riders.

Key now does too, as does contactless.

Regional rail still doesn't support contactless non the key platform readers.

Mobile or desktop? I just clicked schedules in the navigation and pulled up trenton to NYP trains for next week. at the top of the list of trains where it says "Available trips" on the right side above the table there's a printer icon that seems to generate a PDF of the results. I did have...

At least two things going on that will affect Penn capacity, though neither are related to Empire service:

You don't ride in planes, cars or buses backwards...why should a train be any different? Huh? I've been in plenty of buses with rear facing seats. Have you ever been on the New York City Subway? R44 and 46 cars had rear facing seats and were built in the 70s. R68 built in the 80s. Rest of the fleet...

You can sense the real urgency to get this project off the ground.
If bidders keep wasting time with useless questions, there's not much NJT can legally do, I suspect.

You can push dead electric trains with a diesel today, no need to order a bunch of new trainsets for that.

How often does catenary go down on the NEC? 2-3 times every decade?

The main disruption with catenary failure is the fallout, not the lack of electricity.

Extension of the Jersey City sewer and filling in of the canal was completed in June 2023. Phase 2 of the project, construction of the new platforms and track work and associated buildings, was awarded last week. https://www.njtransit.com/press-releases/nj-transit-advances-major-resiliency-upgrades-...

FYI looks like this now supports all rail lines.

Can confirm that it is a fourth account type with its own, dedicated login that is separate from AccessLink, NJT mobile app, and online alerts.

So I ask what would you propose Amtrak do to correct the problem as you see it. The NEC may break even and the Empire Corridor at one time turned a profit. Without those prices and crowded trains... I never suggested this was a problem. eolesen seems to be convinced that Amtrak as a whole is appare...

Re: Cleveland to Wall NJ?

Looks like you can go to Asbury Park, then take bus 836 to Route 33/Walnut, and walk 1.8 miles after that.

Though the bus is infrequent so I would probably just catch a Lyft to go from the train to the destination given the distance.

It pays me for an hours work and leaves some crumbs on the table. Its not the $70.00 for the ticket that's the issue it should be the fact that Amtrak refuses to add a coach to a train that consistently sells out. However why should they if they can get a premium price for the seat AND the public i...

City center meaning geographic center, the point that you get when you put it into a mapping application. No judgment made on whether there's actually a "city center" to speak of, and I didn't feel like looking up what kind of municipality it is (township, borough, etc) so I called it a ci...

Morning rush hour Keystones between Trenton and NYP were SRO a few months ago. The evening trains have always been less packed and I'm not sure why.
