Junior is going to be hard pressed to give you what you want in a contract

On the other hand, in the middle of a election, the MTA will play hardball if the word strike is mentioned
So I guess all of the FDNY and NYPD personnel is tainted to with their scandal and they don't deserve a raise either. Their scandal hit you much more in your pocket then the RR scandal.

All LIRR employees are tainted by the disability scandal ? None of the current employees ,3500 plus ,have anything to do with that or any employee hired after 1988 for that matter. What about the phony praise from our customers and the Politicians after the hard working brother and sisters of the LIRR restored service after Hurricane Sandy?

Sandy and Mr. Tools prediction are ancient history

However, any news about the disability scam never seems to end ...

BTW -- How is a ticket agent allowed to rack up 30K in overtime, especially with ticket machines at most stations?

Commuter X is right, and I will add copper thieves to the mix. Employees being exposed in the liberal rags such as Newsday. A few scabs do ruin it for the rest of the bunch. The NYPD, as corrupted as it may seem isn't in the same league of disarray as the LIRR.

If you define "facts" as those which you read in Newsday, you haven't the beginning of even a clue.

Ticket clerks have the potential to earn overtime not just in the ticket office, but they may also work as Ushers (announcers), in the stores department and as station cleaners among other crafts. They are all TCU employees and may bid back and forth between positions if an open position exists.

There is so much the riding public is misinformed about regarding the LIRR and its corporate culture. Yes a Ticket Agent can easily earn $30,000 in OT , most TCU employees start their LIRR Careers as Cleaners and move on from there. You keep you qualifications as you progress throughout your career at the LIRR and can sign up for OT in whatever craft you’re qualified in. The Agent In question may have started as a cleaner and now is qualified as a Crew Dispatcher, Clerk ,Cleaner , and Usher and thus able to sign up on different Crew Boards to earn his/her overtime.

The public is under some illusion that we all have these crazy work rules that enable us to earn over $100 K for 40 hour work week. The rules in question typically apply to a small percentage of senior employees that benefit from them. Most LIRR Employees earn their generous compensation through plain hard work. In most departments to get eight hours OT , you must work 8 Hours and punch in and punch out. No one should feel sorry for the Proud Union Brothers and Sisters of the LIRR , we are well compensated and justly.

Railroading is a tough profession , it takes a toll on many a family and individuals. Alcoholism, Untimely Demise , and Divorce are all very common in our Industry. We work 24 x 7 to make sure the LIRR runs in rain, sleet , snow and sun. The workers of the LIRR just want to be appreciated and keep up with inflation. NY is one of the most financially challenging places to live on Earth. Unions are not they reason why the middle class is being decimated. What the employees at the LIRR have is something that anyone who is willing to sacrifice and work hard should have, the ability to start and raise a family and live a life with dignity. This should be a very basic contract between employee and employer , there is dignity in work and all workers should be paid enough to provide food, housing and clothing for themselves and their loved ones.

Hello Tool

The only thing we use Newsday for at my house is when my kids are doing art projects for school as place mats or to cover my dining room table to clean my guns (since Newsday is against the second amendment.)

PEB 245 commenced yesterday in NYC. Baby Huey looking confident as ever.

Dutch u got that right ! My union reps were in a meeting within the last month and John Samuelsen was there , and he was pledging loyalty to the LIRR and their fight . He stabbed us in the back and probably cost his own guys some $ and your guys over at MNR. What did he get out of the deal ? Lt. Gov ?

His transit Union got a $2 million/year payoff for three years to use as they wish. Don't want to bust your bubble but one LIRR union already got a payoff (illegal for Railway Labor Law parties to take one concurrent with the contract) to agree to employees paying for their benefits. Guess which one. I'm not going to say, but time will tell you.

Tool spilled the beans.

There is a sidebar agreement leaked from the proposed deal. Stating that there will be installments of $2mil over the course of 3 years without proration to amount of $6 million into a trust established for permissible purposes (TWU.)

Money talks and bull sh*t walks. If the deal ratifies watch to see Mr. Samuelsen exit stage left and be praised by the likes of Di Blasio and Little Andy.

As expected, the MTA's offer is modeled off what the TWU agreed to last week.

6 year deal calls for 3-1-1-2-2-2, totaling 11%, over 6% less than what PEB 244 found.
The MTA's latest offer in its contract dispute with Long Island Rail Road unions calls for raises totaling 11 percent over six years, according to sources, but a top labor official said Tuesday both sides remain far apart in efforts to head off a crippling strike.

The proposed agreement comes as the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the LIRR's largest labor coalition approach the final day of a hearing Wednesday before a panel of mediators appointed by President Barack Obama to help settle a 4-year-long contract dispute.

The MTA's new offer is for a six-year contract with a raise of 3 percent the first year, raises of 1 percent in the second and third years, and raises of 2 percent in the last three years, MTA and union sources who spoke on condition of anonymity said.

The deal is modeled after an agreement reached last week with Transport Workers Union Local 100 that would give its more than 34,000 transit workers raises totaling 8 percent over five years, but reflects the fact that the LIRR unions have gone longer without a contract.

MTA chairman Thomas Prendergast, who defended the agency's proposal to the three-member Presidential Emergency Board 245 Tuesday, would not give details about the offer, but confirmed that it was based on the subway and bus workers' deal, included annual raises, and extended into "the former contract period of the TWU."
Labor Official: MTA, LIRR Unions still far apart
