The short answer to your question is there is no way of knowing. That train may be one that is supposed to be Bom equipment (locomotive hauled) but if there is equipment shortages then it becomes electrics.

If you on a Bom train going to Riverdale ask the conductor in advance what door is going to open. The bridge plates are not lined up to accommodate the coaches.

Now two northbound tracks are out of service through Riverdale. There was some MOW equipment at Riverdale today, on the freight (?) track along the Hudson River, to the west of the station.

In addition, for the past few months, northbound and southbound trains on the Hudson Line, at least on weekends, are also not on time: up to about 10 minutes late in each direction.

What gives? How much longer will these delays and construction issues be ongoing?

Thanks.

for years to come, the short cuts taken by previous managers will take several budget cycles to be corrected.

as for this weekends delays the following twitter and other means message went out :
Planned track maintenance this weekend (Nov. 15-16). Some trains may experience delays of 20 mins. or more. We appreciate your patience.
