Mr Norman should be old enough to remember the all parlor Yankee Clipper on the NH
Not that a M8 would be considered all parlor service

Ok someone recalcumulated, also last car 9590 is now in NH , so all M-8's are on property.
CDOT is hinting at $40 million more in M-8's or 12 or so cars .
But is Kawasaki willing to build more after production line started other contracts ??

If the production line has not been torn apart yet,Kawasaki could restart it,if the line has been "retooled"for another build,
might take a year or so to recreate the M-8 production line.

They'll need a lot more than 12 extra cars even without any SLE and Penn Station Access needs factored in. It was reported this week that ridership on MNR topped 85 million. In 2002/2003 it was 71 million. That's 16 million new riders in 12-13 years. And most of the ridership growth is in the reverse peak and off peak travel patterns.

From what I hear a separate single mode M-10 fleet may be purchased for NYP duty.
It would negate the construction of more third rail and sub stations.

as for Kawasaki the Lincoln plan is now set up to construct its next customers cars . I think its washington metro cars ??

I believe the 7000 series WMATA cars were being built at the same time as the m8s based on videos I've seen.

yes but now both production lines are setup for 7000's

I'm curious how specialized a railroad production line is. In automotive, it's fairly hard if not impossible to build materially different cars on one production line. It's so mechanized that the robots and fixtures are set up only around the hard points of one frame/body. Given that railcar assembly is much less mechanized, I bet the production line can support mutliple types of cars and its up to the supplier base to stamp out different pieces parts like bulkheads and interior parts.

Set of M-8's in service SB at University Heights around 8:25am, somewhat unusual?

no why would it ?? 34% of M-8 fleet is owned by Metro north .

These are my first M8 videos. These were taken in October 2014 on the Northeast Corridor while on my way back from a trip to New Haven. The first video is of a ride on an M8 train from Fairfield to Southport. The second video is of a ride on the same train from Rowayton to Noroton Heights with a stop at Darien. I personally like riding the M8s. They have great performance, particularly in local runs.
