Ya know......if you adjust the cost of a subway ride from 1935, it would be about $1.75 today. So........it is more expensive now to ride than it was then. Yet, there are fewer people required to operate trains due to automation and the same holds true for ticketing and such. The system should cost...

My own feeling is the rail option will be left off the final design. I live in the area and I hear about this quite a bit in addition to seeing the articles in the local paper and on cable TV. The rail option has already been brought back from the dead once. As I recall that was when the BRT estima...

The Port Jervis AND Pascack Valley (Don't see how the Pascack Valley will do it with the line going south of the bridge area and NJT owns the line?) lines both will be crossing over the bridge/tunnel to the Hudson Line? With ARC probably dead this probably is the only option even with the train ride...

Albany doesn't care they only care about... And no matter how much we talk about it, it won't change the fact that fares are going up. Who knows what the future holds because it's really sad the way things are right now. Yes, it truly is sad to be served by one of the best commuter railroad agencie...

Surprise! Trains cost money to run! Imagine if our fares were not subsidized at all, and they charged us what it really cost to operate these trains? It's really getting to be that way. The subsided money is dried up. Albany doesn't care they only care about playing elementary school and who can sc...

Train 857 (5:53pm to Poughkeepsie) stops at Harmon to receive passengers only. The conductor only opens one door and at GCT usually makes the announcement if you're a Harmon passenger board train train 763 (5:57pm). I remember one time the train stopped at Harmon and the doors didn't open and the pe...

well looking a few posts back, theres a current capacity/timeslot issue in penn, LIRR uses A LOT OF SLOTs for the current service, but with the completion of ESA most of the current trains bound for penn by then terminate at GCT which would possibly open future slots for MNCR trains so this may be ...

For the most part I noticed peak trains are usually fairly quiet, especially in the morning when people are trying to get in more sleep.

If anything the noise problem is worst during the off-peak times especially on the weekends.

Yes, but YE153 has 4 tracks capable of holding 10 cars and plenty of room in the station for large crowds, Marble Hill does not. Not to mention it would be simple to send Harlem and NH trains there around the wye. As we know, this was all resolved before PM rush. But if it had not been, would all t...

Anyone saw or know what pulled the dead 5:13pm train on Tuesday? It went dead just north of Yankees.

I agree, not in my lifetime. It would be nice if Metro-North had something similar to what the LIRR has - the Cannonball.

Maybe one of these days we might see a Wassaic train first stop Patterson. Hey, I can dream. :-D

Terminal Proceed wrote:Bottom line - who cares. They said trains were full. THAT is the point of the discussion - whether trains were full or empty.
Well then excuse me I didn't know.

How many people were at the concert is in no way relevant to this discussion. Disagree. If say 19,000 (Know it probably much more, but just throwing numbers out since I don't know how many people went) attended it the 3,000 ridership looks very good or it could just mean more fans from Metro-North ...
