I do think that the experimental scheme looks good. Why do you think it's my current avatar? Makes you woner what the PC scheme would look like with some more color.

I have to say Gennys in Phase 1 and Phase 3 look wayyyyyy better than they do in the current Phase 5. The heritage schemes had color, had a distinctive logo, and had text large enough to read at a distance. The industrial designers really failed with the current scheme, imo.

I also thought that AEM7s in phase 3 looked really sharp, while in phase 5 they look awful.

I actually like Phase V on the Genesis diesels, but I like these Heritage schemes too.

I agree, Phase V looks awful on the AEM-7's.

are there any plans to repaint electric units on the NEC? How many will be repainted(diesels)?

You give railfans an inch, and they want to take a mile. Nothing's ever good enough! :-)

Well, catching Friday's eastbound Lake Shore Limited was good enough for me! Photographed him from Lock 10 as he passed through east of Amsterdam, then raced ahead to get him as he entered Albany-Rensselaer station. Got a few digital snapshots while the train did its station work at Albany, the rest is on slide. A sharp looking unit! According to the information I have, the unit is on today's Train 69 (The Adirondack), and then I assume it will come back down on Sunday and return west on Monday's Lake Shore Limited. I have no confirmation, this is just my reasoned guess.

I think if you read back through this thread, you will discover the answer is "no." Just in case you missed it, Amtrak's official announcement:
AMTRAK PREPARING TO CELEBRATE 40TH ANNIVERSARY
Locomotives with historic paint schemes among first activities

WASHINGTON – On May 1, 2011, Amtrak will celebrate 40 years as America’s Railroads providing vital intercity and high-speed passenger rail service to the nation and offering a critical transportation choice for both urban and rural communities. Preparations are now underway for several activities to commemorate the occasion.

The first sign of celebration occurred on January 30 in Chicago when the first of four P-42 diesel-electric locomotives with one of four historic paint schemes entered regular revenue service. (See attachment for details.) All four locomotives will be in service by the end of April and operate on trains across the Amtrak national network. As each becomes available for service, Amtrak will issue a Twitter message at twitter.com/Amtrak and post a photo in the Photos tab on its Facebook page at facebook.com/Amtrak. A photo of the first locomotive is now posted.

I wonder it if they leave this loco with that phase 1 paint scheme...make me remember the AMTRAK F-Units of the 80's..

I think it actually looks better from a distance.

Caught the 156 on train 68 (The Adirondack) at Saratoga Springs and Alany-Rensselaer... Looking sharp! Heading west on the Lake Shore Monday, as far as I know...
