These trains are rebuilt, but Stupid steel Schenectady made some big big Boo boo's
A/ no documentation including schematics
B/ no manuals for shop use
C/ unauthorized removal of two HVAC ducts which reduced heating and AC by nearly 45%
D/ use of unauthorized materials .

I always wondered why these units were never used.

one set was used, just to give stupid steel a chance to correct problems in 2nd and 3th set but that when legal action started, cause Stupid steel did not want to correct the problems .

Actually two sets were used. I rode aboard the first one in June 2003 and aboard the second set in October 2003.

Here are a couple of shots from that second trip:

On that trip we also spotted the newly delivered third set hiding out with the first over by the Rensselaer shops:

Is the 3rd set the one with the seats still covered in plastic bags?

Yes indeed it is.

Maybe they can use the new-old seats for the MBB cars on CT's NHHS line...

As per a post on Facebook's Amtrak Springfield Line Railfans, a rider on CTRail 4407 today noticed that The Old Turboliners are still sitting in the Amtrak section of Cedar Hill.

Can confirm that they were there on Friday.

All three or just the one that was moved last month?

One set moved to NH, the other two remain at Adams.

On-Track-On-Line.com is reporting that the set that went to New Haven was scrapped. Any idea if this is true or where they got that info?
  by Matt Johnson

I can't attest to that but I can say that the other two are still at North Brunswick. Here's a glimpse of one through the window of a 50 year old Budd Metroliner cab car racing by at 125 mph, taken by yours truly on Tuesday.

There was mention of the seats being reused for CT Rail - that's not actually a horrible idea. Certainly better than scrapping them for materials, and better seats would shrink the quality gap between the Amtrak Shuttles and Hartford Line...
