For me, it began in 1880, when my Great Grandfather Augustus Kremer (my Mothers grandfather) moved to Sayre PA as a young man to take a clerk/office job with the Lehigh Valley Railroad. Then my Father's great grandfather also worked for the LV in Sayre, probably starting in the 1890's. Then..both of...

More on the caboose, from old posts in this thread: Sun Mar 10, 2013 I drove by Colonie today, and the caboose and boxcar in the deadline are gone. I don't know if they were saved or scrapped. Tue Mar 12, 2013 Boxcar is said to be going somewhere to be used as storage. No word on the caboose. Both w...

The D&H caboose that was at Colonie was said to be No. 35706.
Notations in older threads/posts say it was going to the Upper Hudson River RR..
dont know if it actually made it there or not.. google isnt helping me find out right now.

The ex-LIRR FA got out, I think a D&H caboose also. What do you mean by "got out". Presumably "got out in one piece", I hope. I assume they did not "get out on rails " though, so were they trailered? The FA did leave on rails! my note from 2008: 43.) March 2008 - W...
