I honestly don't know how and why I thought the Comet Is were retired in 2004 and 2005. I thought that back in LATE 2008 :(. That was when the 5114, 5120, and maybe the 5123 were running. When I found out they ran until late March of 2009 around mid 2010, I got pretty dang mad at myself and yet stil...

Hello all,
I read on the EL Dining Car Preservation Society that the last train of Comet Is ran on Train 1169 to Suffern on March 27 2009. Here is what I'd like to know

1. Did anyone railfan or remember this train?
2. What were the road numbers on the Comets

Any info is great

Heard a rumor that the Comet IBs may run again. Highly doubt it's true, but I'm holding a little hope.

Wish I saw the old Comets before the awful MLs replaced them :( Multilevels, generally speaking, do not usually smell like burrito night at a prison-which is a fairly acurate description of a Comet I cab car towards the end. Malodorous cars aside, I promise, you didn't miss *anything* special or sp...

It won't be too long before the Dinky is pushed as far back as West Windsor. Dang NIMBYs.

Another thought, why does the M&E own so many locomotives but only use three of them down in New Jersey. The 22 is still in running condition along with some of the Canadian locomotives (I know the 22 needs a new engine but it is still in "mint" condition".) Lol, what is your ide...

Now why does the M&E own so many MLW locomotives but not one runs or is even seen in Whippany or put in RRPX since the owner owns RRPX. I know rebuilding a locomotive is expensive but those locomotives are only getting older and are going to get more expensive to repair as vandals and weather de...

AFAIK you are required to have the bell on when working/running by a railroad yard

The Comet I cabs, CNJ GP40s, U34CHs and the M&E ALCOs, all have/had nice brass bells. They sound much nicer then the cheap steel bells used on the rest of the stuff out here. As for the E-Bell, get used to it. It doesn't jam with snow and ice, the air line doesn't freeze and the rate of failure...

Well in a decade NJT will pretty much be like the railroads out in California, only Multilevels :(
