Once again. I didn't condem the ST jsut the the fact that the project took longer and it went too far over budget. So does everything. I don't figure that it opening late made it more expensive either. I also doubt that the amount that it went over budget would be enough to pay for service on much ...

...how good the machines in Secaucus Junction are. Though NJT lied to the users of the BCL/Main/etc. (they said that the machines that went in there would be the kind with the "new" printers), there ARE new machines in SJ that can print a ticket in about 1-5 seconds.

And the thing that surprises me is that there are always a handful of people there who are confused and don't know where to go, telling me that there are new riders all the time (upstairs, downstairs is not that complicated). Also, I have to say, I really thought that going up to go down was going t...

People hate on the C1's a lot, but I don't find them worse-riding or more uncomfortable than any of the other cars. Some of their seats are worn, but structurally they seem fine -- I have yet to find a car that was really screwed and wouldn't be helped by a rebuild. But I'm no RR engineer, and I don...

tom, sometime last year The Record did a cover story about the ST in their Sunday Edition on how logn it was taking and the Billion Dollars over budget. Granted that it's needed but the amt of money was too much esp for that $400,000 plus sculpture sitting inside. The money that was wasted because ...

I believe you are right, Irish. They have the manual handles like the Heritage cars, and the crew repeated that all doors would not open at every stop.

Just so happens...

I was in an Amfleet II for most of today, on #43 (the Pennsylvanian). Nice cars, and very comfortable seats. Sorry for the quality of the picture, but here is the difference between the Amfleet I and II seats: http://www.eden.rutgers.edu/~ryanov/AmfleetIISeats.jpg Hope this was of some help. I perso...

A and B trains do exist.

I've ridden a number of times, usually between 11th and Market and 30th Street Station. I definitely noticed A and B trains -- this was at a little before 8 in the morning that I'm thinking of. The letter is right in the center of the leading car, up top.

Jammed, eh?

See, this is the interesting thing -- looks like a LOT of people talking about how packed the trains are. Interesting, no?

Camden is a destination. If you are travelling from north Jersey on the NEC (or anywhere else for that matter) to south Jersey on one of the 400 buses, you save a lot of time eliminating Philadelphia, as well as a lot of cost.

"Again, hopefully it'll be 5 or 6 car trains rather then 2 or 3."

Oooh, ooh, I know this one. It's NJTRailfan. You had me fooled, not mentioning a GP40, but... I know that 5-6 car thing anywhere. At any rate, you probably want to get a username.
