Said loco was outside shop today sunning itself.
For ready reference, 629 was the unit involved at the Kingston, RI fatal automobile incident during April 2015.

Several of our "in the know" have noted that the repairs were done by Amtrak mechanical forces, as distinct from contracting out with Siemens. What would be interesting to know is to what extent Siemens people were involved with the repairs. But if it appears that this was a home grown job, hats off to Amtrak people.

she runs, but from what I was told, she still has a minor issue with one traction motor being disabled, once that is rectified, I dont know if it will have any testing performed on it before it goes back in service, I imagine since its been down for nearly a year, a WAS-NYP-WAS test is in order at the minimum to make sure the repairs are correct.

They will probably just put it as a second unit out on a train for its testing instead of running a dedicated crew. A cut out traction motor is not going to disable a train and its already gone thru commissioning testing.

The damage to the engine was mostly all mechanical undercarriage components so there really isnt much too it. Its all bolt on stuff.

And on the prowl, too! She moved to DC under the cover of darkness, towing some other shopped engines. The poor thing is camera shy!

There was a shop move spotted southbound near BWI with several Acs-64's and a P42, yesterday around 320pm.
I don't know the status, but I would guess the are being deadheaded from Wilmington to DC for service.

The facebook videos dont work anyways unless you are in whatever group or friend that posted them. Why do people insist on stupid facebook for video instead of youtube, where its actually public?
