Continue with the New Cars post here. BTW, a lot of surplus 8400s from the UP have found there way to the BNSF to replace the older "Q" cars, numbered in the 700 and 800 series.

So far, only four 8400s that used to be on UP have made their way to BNSF. 8447, 8448, 8450, and 8458 are the cars. Each of these cars had chimes removed from their K5LAs. 8466 and 8467 are the rear two cars of a 7-car train. Several 8400s that were on MILW/NCS have also come over to BNSF.

How often is it that an HC trainset is used on RI? I remember last year when 184 was on an HC train on a Friday, that particular trainset ventured on RI on the weekend.

HC sets run on RI every Saturday night. Starting with the 4:24 out of Joliet. Sometimes HC sets run earlier, but the norm is a 4 car set at 4:24, then a 5 car set at 6:24. Im not sure what set does the 8:24.

The same HC set does the RI on the 8:24.

8454 was reported to be on HC tonight, making another addition to the UP 8400's in the BNSF pool.

I have a poor quality shot of 117 departing Oak Forest. If you click "view full image" you can see the numberboards.

Even though RI seems to have lost 8578, RI has one more 9 car train. I saw five 9 car trains on RI today, which is one more than what used to be the usual. 8451 was also on RI today. It was behind an 8500, so it wont be used as a cab.

I'm sure 8451 won't be on the Rock for long.

Any shots of 8451?

Well folks 8588 ran MILW West Thursday night along with 6149 and 6150. They have since gone to UP. But, I do have a recording of 8578 departing Geneva:
http://www.ctrgroup.net/recordings/METX ... -10-05.mp3
If that doesn't work take out the capital R and replace it with a regular one.

Mod Edit: Link Fixed

Which Thursday?

Tonight (Wednesday 13 April 2005) I saw 8588 on Milwaukee North train 2133/2150 (Deerfield short turn). It looked so clean that I would have guessed this was its first day in service rather than getting dirty in the rain yesterday.

I'll add a link when I get some photos of it posted.
