Your last shot shows the old, black-topped, center platform still in place.

Commuters would, on occasion, walk across the eastbound track to board a westbound train laying up on that north track, hence the reason for that center low platform.

I photographed the depot trackside in 1985 after they had just cropped the front eaves to allow pedestrian clearance due to the then-being-installed hi-levels.

Nice Shots mwichten! I was just at St. James station this past week. That platform is LONG! Sure seems like they came to electrification on that branch. Far enough to spend the money on hi-levels...

I want to thank everyone for their responses yesterday and today. As I find more I will scan and post.

LIJ - nice shots! Possibly we pfotographed the same train w/170? Just kidding.

Dave, I can remember standing on that center platform before the high level platforms were installed. There was picture of an FA in the white/gray with blue stripe and yellow pilot scheme on this forum not too long ago that showed the low level platforms in use.

Is the old wooden Huntington station still standing? Hard to visualize Huntington as I remember it, then see those photos of what appears to be a trackside parking garage (??)

On that last picture in Huntington is the 9627. Here's a shot I got in Holban yard in February this year. That car is now scrap.

Dave, the original station building at Huntington still stands in-service. But the area around it has changed a lot. There are huge parking deck structures on both sides of the tracks at the east end. And new housing across the street on the north side. Welcome to Huntington City.
