An 0600 series Bombardier BTC-1B blind coach and a 1500 series MBB CTC-3 control cab. The shot-to-hell MBB's are heading to the scrapper next year as their new bi-levels order progresses. About half the Bombardiers get retired if they exercise their contract option order on the new coaches (the BBD's probably will hit the bargain basement re-sale market). Sending brand new MP36PH-3C 010 out to that deathtrap is kind of ballsy, but at least the coaches are disposable if disaster strikes.

I guess no disasters occurred or we would have heard by now. How far down the Housatonic RR did the consist actually travel before running back north? Just to Canaan?

Back the same way it came. Locomotive blew a traction motor on the return trip and is now in the shop. Can't blame that one on Housy, but no...didn't go off totally without a hitch.
