Thanks!
I think a few people missed my point..
I dont know what percentage of railfans live and breathe train symbols, but I would guess its much less than 50%..
personally, in 30 years of railfanning, I have never paid the least attention to train symbols..mainly because I seldom have access to hearing about them.
Its just one particular aspect of railfanning I have never been "into"..(I have never owned a scanner either..)
So when someone says "The locomotive is on 13T"..To me that means absolutely nothing..
you could be talking about a train from Chicago to Alaska for all I know!
And in this case, the locomotive could be headed North, South, East or West out of Buffalo,
and all we want to know is were the loco is headed from Buffalo..for many of us, "13T" does not give that basic information..
All im asking for is *slightly* more clarification for those of us who don't know all (or any) of the symbols..
saying 13T is fine and great..im sure many people will want to know the train symbol.
but you cant assume everyone knows what 13T means..so just a few more words would make the reports helpful and meaningful for everyone..
instead of just "13T" you could say "13T (Buffalo to Binghamton, then Allentown)"..that would be very helpful!
thanks,
Scot
