DO-1 is called PH-1 this week, they were at Rockingham Tuesday at 16:30 hrs. and then went to Portsmouth. Went looking for them this morning and found the train canned on the main at the High Liner Foods switch. Checked back this afternoon at 15:30 and the train s still there, 1 reefer for High Liner and one loaded centerbeam for Boise. This seems to be the norm lately, they come down work Dover, Rock and then into Portsmouth and go off duty. They re-crew Wednesday usually after noon time and finish Portsmouth and then back to Rock and Dover. Not sure what happens after Dover anybody know.
Also caught NHN at Dover at 11:30 to day. Thet came down and picked up a bunch of gas cars for Eatern and left around 11:45.
MESE canned at Wells with a big train around 10:00 this morning, also the train just fit in the siding.

PH-1 sat from Tuesday night until around 11:00 today (Thursday) at High Liner. I caught up with them ( DO-1 today) around 13:30 hrs. up on the Newington branch. They had already left 1 car outside at High Liner and dropped one load and picked up 3 empties at Boise. They were up at Tyco so I went to lunch and caught up with them at 14:30 coming down the Newington Industrial track back to the yard, a slow trip!!! They departed Emery at 15:45 with 2 covered hoppers, 1 Tank car, 2 empty centerbeams and 1 empty box. They were headed to Rock and then to Rigby with a pickup at Wood Structures if all goes to plan so heads up for you folks to the east. Update DO-1 at Rock at 16:38. NHN switching gas cars in Dover this afternoon also.

DO-1(503) ran light into Portsmouth last night. They pulled two cars out of High Liner and left them on the siding by the switch to Highliner. I found the 503 in Portsmouth yard today at 10:45 and took a couple of shots. Just as I was getting in the truck the crew showed up. They had to fill 503 with water before they finally departed Portsmouth for Rockingham light engine. They arrived at Rockingham and pulled onto the #2 track and had to wait for the Downeaster before heading east, not sure what they were up to after that.

Update- DO-1 (503) back down from Dover to Rock at 17:30 with 2 reefers for High Liner and a covered hopper for Tyco. They went to Portsmouth and dropped the 2 cars on the High Liner siding with the 2 cars that were already left there and then went up to Tyco in Newington.

MECFAN, thanks for the updates and photos. It's nice to keep tabs on the little local action that's still happening around here

j, glad your enjoying the posts here's today's action.
DO-1 is PH-1(327) today, they rolled out of Rockingham with 3 loads for Boise, 2 box 1 centerbeam and arrived at High Liner around 12:40. They switched the 4 cars left on the spur from late last week. They put the 2 loads in and pulled 1 more empty out to go with the other 2 empties. They put the train together and went in town and met a maintainer to fix some small problem with 327. After that they went light engine over Market street to the scrap pile where the 5 scrap cars have been for awhile. They moved 3 so they could be unloaded and took the 2 empties back to the yard. They then took the train minus the scrap cars up to Boise and pulled one empty centerbeam out and then shoved the 7 car train up the hill leaving the 3 loads. I left at that point, I'm wondering if the scrap cars go back to Grimels to be reloaded, anybody know?

Just heard PH-1 leaving Emery for Rockingham at 17:20 hours

PH-1 (503w) arrived at Rigby yesterday around 13:20 on the bypass with a boxcar, covered hopper, and several tankers. They put the cars in the yard then tied 503 down at the office. Around 16:30, PO-4 (which had 370e/327w) put the 370 at the office and 327w became PH-1 and went down to the west end to switch. So I take it Rigby is where they do most of their power swaps, or at least some of the times.

Do-1 / PH-1 (327) was sitting at the trailer in Dover this afternoon 13:30 hrs. with all the cars from Portsmouth plus a tank car on the head end. Its facing east so it looks like it is Rigby bound. Might get picked up by an eastbound freight or go as DO-1 to Rigby. As of 16:30 there are 2 eastbounds canned at Rockingham on track 2 one behind the other with just enough room to get through Swampscot Street crossing.

DO-1(340) arrived Rockingham 16:35 with 2 boxes and 1 reefer and dropped them on the siding for Portsmouth. They then went down to Swampscot street and tied onto EDNM (618) that had been there since yestarday. They must have come up to CPF-256 and run the 340 around the train and then put it back together. They departed east after 685 and buddy John saw them go through Elm street in Newmarket with 42 cars and the 340 on the rear at 18:35. So 3 cars at Rock to go to Portsmouuth, stay tuned.

DO-1 (516) left Rockingham with 10 cars, 3 of which were dropped from last nights DO-1 around 13:05 today. They arrived at High Liner with and set off 3 reefers on the spur, they did not pull the cars from the building. That left 2 centerbeams, (Boise) 1 covered hopper (Tyco) 3 boxcars and 1 tank car. They pulled 3 empties out of Boise and shoved the 2 centerbeams up in. They put the train back together and headed up the branch to switch out Tyco and I went home. Not sure where the 3 boxcars and the tank car will end up. I have seen them bring cars in and some of the same cars go back out.

Update, went to town to pick up pizza and and found DO-1 at the yard office at 18:40 ready to leave town. The tank car got dropped in Newington somewhere and the 3 boxes that came in are headed out with the train, crew still with the train.

B&M 340 was reported by my friend at Rigby this afternoon and MEC 516 was reported at Rigby this morning around 09:00 on the Yahoo Sightings group, so it looks as if the power swap was done at Rigby again.
Thanks for the sightings on the Portsmouth line, always interesting to hear what kind of activity goes on there. Nice pictures as well.

MEC 516 is now back at Rigby as of the evening of 1/9. Caught it switching the east end with several of the refrigerator cars, likely from HighLiner. They referred to them as "fish cars". I also saw alot of the black Procor tankers. Just a quick question on those, does anyone know if these tankers are from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, or from NHN's TriCity in Rochester? Last week I saw PH-1 arrive at Rigby with close to 20 of these tankers. My guess is they are taken to Rigby to be switched onto a westbound train, because I never see them east of Rigby.
Thanks

These are NHN cars. The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard has not used rail
for other than nuclear material shipment in many years. DO-1/PH-1
very seldom venture under the Sarah Long Bridge to Kittery.

There have been occasional tank car shipments to/from C-3 and Atlantic
Terminal in Newington over the years. I do not know if there is any
current traffic to those locations.

That is what I was thinking of. I saw tankers in Newington on a Bing Maps image and I just assumed it was part of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. This makes more sense because I didn't think PAR used that bridge very often. Thanks for the info!

The one tank they brought in Friday is up at C-3 you can barely see it from Paterson Lane in Newington. The brush in the gauge is about five feet tall now days and with the leaves off you can just see the car.
