i think the 100 mph limit would be 3rd rail lines ??? . not enough power to go faster anyway .

The Javelins will go at the line speed. On third rail lines, used as feeders they will go no faster than each line allows - mostly less than 100. But once on HS1 they will go as fast as they can - 140.

The limitations of other lines and other trains have no bearing on this.

(It is a disappointment that the new trains announced yesterday will be limited to 125 by design. This is less than the BR Mark 4 trains for the East Coast lines which have been waiting for the last 20 years for upgraded signalling to allow them full speed.

(By the way British Rail is not the correct title for these Javelin trains as the entity no longer exists. They will be operated by Southeastern Trains, owned by a bank, on track owned by Network Rail.)
