The Harvard ad is also a Reebok ad for the Marathon.

It came back this Monday. The trains also seem to be moving faster between the end of the Harvard curve and the crossovers -- maybe Reebok paid for the trackwork to lift the speed restriction so they could use the ad!

The ones there are long LED or LCD screens and the image moves along them to follow the window on the train, giving the effect that there's a TV mounted in the window. The ones on the Red Line are individual screens that each show one frame of the ad and flicker rapidly (all at the same time, btw) in a failed attempt at animation.
Failed attempt at animation? They seem to work when I see them. I think they're pretty cool.
The screens all light up simultaneously, so you can always see several frames at once - more if you're next to the wndow and can see a bit down the tunnel. It's generally considered bad in the animation industry to see more than one frame at once.

What do you want? It's not an animation festival! It's an ad on the wall of a subway!
