Was Tioga Central 506 a D&H Bicenntenial unit?

  by EDM5970

Yes.

Thanks EDM5970 and I am surprised that the red has not faded, but then again the unit is not exposed to the elements that the Warbonnets have to deal with. 506 is already set for the Semiquincentennial.

4 more ALCOs for sale...3 ex D&H (4094 not listed on Joshua Blay's survivors list)

D&H RS2 4020. Went to LIRR and is now Michigan Southern 977. Had a steam generator while on D&H. Last known remaining D&H RS2. Operational $80k

D&H RS3 4071. Went to Lamoille Valley where it got the chopped hood and #7803, then to Western Michigan RR and got #203. Currently in Iowa.
Ran out of oil, seized rods to crank. $30k

D&H RS3 4094. Went to Lamoille Valley where is also got the chopped hood and #7804. Now at Michigan Southern. Missing parts, bad wheels. $40k

D&M RS2 466. Now Michigan Southern 466. Last ran in '97. Freeze damage. $40k

Prices seem high. Michigan Southern is owned by Pioneer Rail.

The ex-Port Huron & Detroit Alco S1 for sale at Ozark Mountain Railcar has had its price halved to $15,000. It is stored serviceable on live rail, but has friction bearings.

According to OMR's web site, these units have been sold. Does anyone know where they ended up or where they're going?

On another list, it was mentioned that the LR&W has their Alco C420's up for sale. I have heard this before, but this time, I read that the EMD GP-38 replacements have already arrived.

FOLLOW-UP: Just learned that only one C420 is running-Number 102. The 101(x-LIRR) is being used for parts. I am told that they(LR&W) are asking too much for each of the units.

That "200-230 ton" loco, as the guy describes it, is way overpriced, for a loco that can only be crane lifted, and trucked out. This seller won't allow roller trucks to be installed, to bring it out by rail. I would consider it scrapped........ :(
