If any Alco roads want to upgrade to some "modern" Alco road power, now would be a good time! 6 operable and blue carded M420s for sale... that's not something that comes along every day.

I'll bet they head to Arkansas. I don't know for sure, but I'd bet money that you won't likely see a sale like this again.

OK, I will bet your next paycheck on that! (kidding) I am not a betting man. I am not sure about that as the Hudson Bay has 20 M420's plus 1 M420 "B" unit. This includes the 6 that are for sale.

Does anyone have an up-to-date HBRY locomotive roster? The newest one I could find on the web was from 2004. Based on that roster, it looks like the M420s compose the majority of the fleet, in addition to being the youngest units on the roster. The rest of the roster appeared to be comprised mostly of old geeps (GP35 and earlier). In terms of reliability, fuel economy, and repair costs, I would think that an M420 would beat a GP35 easily.

The 2007 Canadian Trackside Guide is loaded with this information and plenty of details. Very accurate too.
