I dunno if this is the proper thread, but interesting never the less

For the first time in I don't know HOW long, there is a box car parked on the Amboy Sec at Midway. Its about 2 car lengths from the signal.

I heard OI32 working last night on the NEC but it sounded like they were just going to Metuchen from Oak Island, but the rails and switches from the NEC still look REALLY rusty, so I doubt they parked it there. I guess it came down from the Amboy Sec and will be picked up sometime or another.

The only thing I could think of is that it might be going to the lumber yard just west of Hamilton Station on track 1 side. On a related note, about 2 weeks ago, there was about 10 freight cars going from Morrisville Yard to track 5 at Ham and Im guessing to the Bordentown Sec at the wye there......I hadn't seen that in a LONG time either.

Was it a white top perhaps. If it was I will fill you in about it tomorrow.

I don't really remember, I was very tired and it was taking a lot of work to get my Geep up to speed trying to power a dead ALP and 12 MUs while trying to dance around AM rush hour trains! But I do think it might have had a white top come ot think of it. I think it was a Railbox car

There was a large OI train for Browns power was 1701 and 3428, did not stick around after chasing them in though. The two of you who were shooting from in the yard I hope had permission as you were clearly on yard grounds and should not have been there.

1701 had been with 1704 but I saw 1704 on the RIP track at PR on Thursday so I have a feeling something may have been wrong with it.

Hey, BK, no worries, it was just me & Mike (Pinewald Station); you should've stopped in & said Hi! For the record, I, each and every single time, announce myself to the RR personnel on duty at every facility I visit, to avoid any problems that might arise. Mike, as always, a pleasure; hope to do it again soon (if the wife lets me out)........
Today was just simple, dumb luck at Browns. Mike & I started at Bound Brook (saw 4 eastbounds), hopped over to Manville (saw 1 eastbound), jumped back to Bound Brook (saw 1 eastbound), drove up to Ridgefield Park (saw 1 Northbound on the River Line), skipped down to North Bergen Yard (and admired all the big 6-axle CSX power in the yard), and just decided at the last minute to stop by Browns on the way home. 3 minutes after our arrival, OI-16 pulled in, and 15 minutes later, SA-3 pulls in, making a total of 7 units in Browns Yard at 4:00pm! (On a Sunday!) The OI-16 power picked-up #3429, and departed light right away. After 9 hours in the saddle, we decided to head home. Recording probably 70-80 images today, here are a few from Browns.........

OK, I'm considering taking up a collection for the good folks at Browns Yard, for a new sign. After viewing the fancy, schmancy sign at North Bergen, I feel that the hard working people in Sayreville are being slighted, and I'm not happy about this..............

I've got $25, anyone willing to come up with the rest?!?! :-D

Here are some shots from today, we don't have a Port Reading thread so I guess they are at home here, since these two yards seem to share alot of local power.

Anyway OI16:

I would like to chase a train out of Browns and haven't fanned the yard in awhile. What is the usual schedule of trains operating out of the yard? It sounds like theres been a lot of trains at unusual times recently.

Private message me, I can give you an entire low down and I'll come fan with you. Here it will be quite confusing and long to post since times and trains are liable to change and there are also the random OI trips.

I will say this though go around 5 and you get 33 and 22. 22 heads for Sayerville, while 33 heads down the Camden and Amboy. Those are the two bigger trains anyway.

Nice pics were in Dayton is that because I have always wanted to photograph a train on the Dayton line.

Thanks!

Better get ready to shoot them in Dayton late at night the way things have been playing out the past few months...thats actually in South Brunswick but on the Map, Dayton is geographically the next closest town also. Its near the Home Depot spur.
