The bridge plate in the picture is very close in design to the ones used by VIA, when in central station Montreal we place that type of plate between platform and train to help passengers cross over with out having to swing there bags across the gap and it makes it easier for the elderly to board.

Fat Noah, I can answer some of your questions about the air problem and the frequent stops just before ALB as I was part of the T&E crew. First the air problem in Boston, when the mail and baggage was loaded into the bag car one of the large cages they use for the transport of mail hit the condu...

Plus there are 2 automatic signals at the crossing. Lots of CSX no amtrak I to have seen the Mobile Chaple at the truck stop. It has moved from ...

I see this problem everyday there are people who just dont understand walking on the right of way or trying to beat a train through a grade crossing can be dangerous. Not just teenagers grown men and women who should know better, just the other day I watched as a father and his very young daughter w...

Yes slots are planned they are not a figment of a railfans imagination, if they did not then why when would Amtrak have to tell the host railroad about changes it would like to make. Why then would an employee of Amtrak or the host railroad have to carry a timetable of all trains running on his or h...

Please note that when contracts are worked out between Amtrak and the host railroad generally a slot or slots will be made for the train(s) if you are on schedule and fall into your slot, generally no problems if your out of your slot than you are at the mercy of the dispatcer. I do not know how the...

Believe it or not there are folks at the freight railroads who care if Amtrak trains are on time. If a train is late and the delay is of the hosts railroads doing they have to pay Amtrak, if the train is delayed by Amtrak they have to pay the host railroad. CSX or who ever the host railroad is reall...

Last couple of trips over the B&A with the new schedule in effect. Mon 1 and a half hours late into Bos, Wed 2 and a half hours late into Bos. Those are just the 2 trips I was on. Over three months on time into Bos gone with one stroke of a pen. As I said before new EB schedule not as good as it...
