My first ride on SLE was in the summer of 1990 when the service was brand new. For the first few weeks (months?), the service was free. It's definitely come a long way. Not too long ago, the platforms were all wooden low level bus shelters and the parking lots were gravel. It was a low-budget operation for sure. Now its looking like a 21st century commuter line.

Honestly, though, Hartford Line commuter service should've been inaugurated years ago, back when you could just slap up a wooden platform and call it good.

The second platform at Clinton opens Monday, April 4:

Weekday train service to and from Clinton Station is increasing from 11 trains to 23 trains, and weekend train service from seven trains to 16 trains.

The newly completed high-level platform on the Track 1 side of the Clinton Station compliments the existing boarding platform. A new covered pedestrian bridge connects both platforms, allowing riders to park or be dropped off on either side of the tracks. The project also includes Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) upgrades, including dual elevators. The completed station also provides the infrastructure needed to provide Transit Oriented Development (TOD) in downtown Clinton.
This leaves only Madison as lacking dual platforms.

Great news for Clinton, and excited to see some TOD. Shame the LIRR townships and villages aren't the same.

Is Madison planned/funded?

I have yet to see anything in ConnDOT's plans for double-siding Madison. There are some wetlands and residences adjacent to Track 1 where such a platform would be located. I'm sure that'll complicate matters and probably is why its the last one-sided platform still remaining on SLE.
