My first ride on SLE was in the summer of 1990 when the service was brand new. For the first few weeks (months?), the service was free. It's definitely come a long way. Not too long ago, the platforms were all wooden low level bus shelters and the parking lots were gravel. It was a low-budget operation for sure. Now its looking like a 21st century commuter line.
Honestly, though, Hartford Line commuter service should've been inaugurated years ago, back when you could just slap up a wooden platform and call it good.
