gregoryrice,
thanks for posting the link to the video. Why do you think those black containers are for recycling? Someone speculated that they were carrying NYC sewage sludge. I saw one emerging from a construction-debris recycler near Hunt's Point. But near the loading area I would have to say that most of the containers do smell like sewage.
Any insights are appreciated.

When we first spotted them, I believe we all (or someone on here) determined that they were for a recycler. Remember, just because it's recycling does mean it smells good

On the MetroNorth train to White Plains there are a handful of customers serviced out of Oak Point. I saw three white refrigerator cars at the potato place south of Bronxville, and the lumber yard in the Bronx had a box car.

The yard last week

Here are some photos from Oak Point Yard. The long string of boxcars is from last week. The caboose and the solo CSX boxcar are from today. The CSX boxcar is the sole car on the RIP track; it has an nice weathered look. That's the fewest I've seen in a while, and I hadn't previously seen the track-component yard behind the box car to the right. It includes an end-of-track bumper that was likely removed from the former connecting track that swings under the NE Corridor just west of the yard.

The fudge-brown containers were especially pungent today. I saw one of those containers being trucked over on the Randall's Island sewage plant, heading to Oak Point Yard.

Loaded welded rail train on Oak Point Link stopped with head end near Metro North bridge 1 SD-60 1SD-40-2 1 GenSet and 1GP38-2 rear end Oak Pt caboose near 145th St bridge approx. 2:30pm. Earlier in day saw contractor working near weigh-in-motion scale near Willis Av Bridge, maybe rail train was holding because they were waiting for them to clear.

Correct. The Rail train had to wait for the other crew to finish testing the scale. About a 25 min wait. Photos to follow later or tomorrow
