Thursday night, the WEllwood Ave Crossing was down with lights flashing and there was a flurry of activity with police cars and ambulances.

However, I could not see a train involved or car.

Anyone have details of what may have occurred?

Thursday March 24 at around 740 PM

just wondering

Which Wellwood Ave crossing are you talking about? Main-line? Central Branch?

As I was making my way to Lindenhurst, there was a flurry of MTA police at the Wellwood crossing on the Central on Tuesday night for whatever reason. Someone was tinkering with something they shouldn't have been doing.

If you're talking about Tues night on the Central Branch, it was only a brush fire and the LIRR had a block on the tracks around 630/7 pm. The LIRR trains with local fire/ems organizations. I attended one with Medford F.D. and everything was well explained as far as operations and certain things with types of different equipment. They also gave out a book with detailed information on the LIRR/NYAR.
