A few PV movements for trackside observers:

NAVY 118 on a late afternoon train (probably 80, maybe 90) from WAS to NYP on Thursday 10/11 ... then from NYP to MTR on 69, probably Friday 10/12 ... then from Montreal to the north woods of Quebec for a few days parked at Senneterre and return to Montreal on Via Rail Canada trains 603 and 604 ... then from MTR to NYP on train 68 ... sorry, no exact dates, but during the week of October 15th.

BERLIN ... probably on train 20 from WAS to NYP on Thursday 10/11 ... then from NYP to PGH on train 43, either Friday 10/12 or Saturday 10/13.

MOUNT VERNON ... train 19 from WAS to NOL on Friday 10/12 .... train 20 from NOL to NYP on Wednesday 10/17.

Appears that the Yankees got stuck on the Northeast Corridor returning from Baltimore:

NEW YORK – Downed electrical wires impacted the Yankees’ chartered train out of Baltimore, forcing the club to board buses for the ride back to New York following Monday night’s Game 2.

The weary Yankees party arrived in the city at about 6 a.m. Tuesday.

"I thought our guys made the best of it," manager Joe Girardi said of the club’s unscheduled train stop at Aberdeen, Md. "They laughed, and there were some pictures taken. It’s just something you have to deal with, similar to getting in from the West Coast some days."

I was on train 98 Silver something which was about an hour late Tue morning at DC, 8am or so. They announced we'd change diesel to electric at Philly, but didn't say why. I overheard the reason after leaving DC. At Baltimore they allowed northeast corridor passengers to board, even though most long distance trains are discharge only. Among those boarding were the television crew for the Orioles-Yankees game. My seatmate said his crew was 30 people.

So if the power problems disrupted the Yankees, what happened to the Orioles?

Given the day off between games, I would venture that the Orioles players slept in their own beds Monday night and headed (or will head) for New York sometime Tuesday or this morning.

Nope. The O's were on a second train shortly behind the Yankees. They were also bustituted, and their Tuesday morning workout at Yankee Stadium had to be canceled. Interestingly, O's skipper Buck Showalter suggested that it was the Yankees' train that caused the problem (but I have not seen any confirmation of this):http://www.masnsports.com/school_of_roc ... arter.html
Orioles manager Buck Showalter joked today about needing a cup of coffee before he could begin his conference call with reporters.

The Orioles didn't get to their hotel until 9 a.m. this morning, having to ditch their train and bus the rest of the way.

"We got about a half-hour out of Baltimore, and the way I understand it, I think the train ahead of us, I think it was the Yankees, clipped something, and I hope they got power restored to the lines because I know they had a lot of people depending on that train today," Showalter said. "But finally we just got on a bus, and it was about a two-and-a-half-hour bus ride from there to the hotel here in New York."

It is pleasing to note that an organization with the influence of the New York Yankees is prepared to accept that "stuff happens' in this life, and the Steinbrenner family is not letting loose with some "anti-Amtrak never again" rants.

Most likely Juniata Terminal Company's cars coming home.

If it was 97, it was Dover Harbor and an ex-MARC, ex-PC, ex-PRR coach converted from a 22-roomette "INN" series car, both operated by the Washington Chapter, NRHS, on a weekend revenue trip (1st class in Dover Harbor, coach in the coach -- Franklin Inn? -- from Washington to New York and return.

Just got back from a nice little trip, and I noticed a few unique items:

1. The PV's in an NYC-like two-tone grey (St. James Place, Chapter Club) were on the north side of CUS all weekend, backed up to the bumper.

2. The Northern Sky Charters car has been under the post office on the south end of CUS (mail tracks) all weekend (no pic - too dark).

3. The C&LC car on the house track in Mendota (the blue diner that looks a bit rough) now has a hand-painted red roof. Not sure where this one's going...

Those two have been there for a couple of weeks now. They're on Track 17. Having them there is kind of a pain for Hiawatha passengers when it uses 17 since that train ends up with its west end all the way at Madison Street (two blocks - 1/4 mile - from the bumper).

It's understandable it's a pain for those passengers but how often do you see what the private cars look like.
