Due to the heavy snowfall and the government's closure tomorrow, VRE will not operate on Wednesday.

VRE will probably not operate until the government re-opens, which I guessing won't be until Friday at the earliest.

No VRE service since last Saturday? We're up to five days in a row.

Is the VRE making everyone of their employees to take vacation days, or are their staff getting full pay with no work?

VRE does not operate on weekends, so only 3 days this week without service.

MARC is completely shut down tomorrow as well - this is the first day that they've done that this time around (Monday was "S" on Penn line only, today was "S" on all 3 lines).

Wednesday's storm only gave Woodbridge about 6 inches and less futher south. The snow stopped by 4PM with sun peaking out. Maryland was hit the hardest this time.

Now that Federal Government is open on liberal leave/delayed Friday, VRE will run the "S" schedule.

VRE will operate its "S" schedule. Only those trains marked with an "S" on your schedule will run. On the Manassas Line, this means that service is limited to trains 324, 328, 330, and 332 in the morning and 325, 327, 331, and 335 in the evening. On the Fredericksburg Line, this means that service is limited to trains 302, 306, 308, and 310 in the morning and 301, 303, 307, and 311 in the evening.

Due to equipment storage problems in our D.C. layover yard, we will only operate our 6-car sets on the Manassas Line tomorrow. Some crowding may occur as a result. On the Fredericksburg Line, we will operate the 8-car train on 302 and 307, operate our 6-car train on 306, 308, 301, 303 and a 4-car train on 310 and 311 tomorrow. Some crowding may occur as a result.

Metro closed the VRE platform on it's side at Franconia/Springfield. Access to and from the station may be difficult depending on what happens with Metro. Our crews have had to walk in from the back side to clear the platforms as the Metro side has been out of service and locked to the general public. We will work with WMATA to see if the Metro side can be opened for VRE foot traffic and will update you on these efforts.

MARC will be running an S schedule tomorrow on the Penn Line. There will be no Camden or Brunswick Line service. Due to the heavy snowfall in the northwestern suburbs of DC, the Brunswick Line will not operate.

There will also be no service on Monday, because of the holiday (before the budget cuts, MARC would operate an S schedule). On Tuesday all lines should be in full service.

Cool pictures HokieNav. I love the spray of snow dust on the Aberdeen platform when a train goes by at full speed.
