David Gunn recently said that there will likely be only 4 Turboliner sets rebuilt by Super Steel, not 7 as originally planned. So, the future of the lone "RTL II" trainset, which was to become the 7th "RTL III", is now in doubt. Why not use the perfectly good coaches and run them behind a conventional diesel? It seems like a waste to scrap them.

In fact, for a while Amtrak was actually running this Turboliner behind a P32AC, so it's obviously feasible!

Because the unrefubished equipment is junk.

WHY WASTE FUEL HAULING DEAD WEIGHT (to wit, a broken locomotive)?

Mr Rhinecliff is right: Use standard coaches.

Two words best describe the use of these trains: ARTIFICIAL REEF!

Amen.....

Perhaps I could buy 'em at scrap value and have my own personal shootin' train! :P :D

What's wrong with them? They're no older than the Amfleet coaches, and in my experience they ride smoother.
