Why not just double end the train , and return to New Orleans after a 1/2 hour or so ?

Yes , easy to forget the "HSTs" are just Mk3 cars between 2 locomotives in a push pull configuration. Originally a real dumbing down of the over complicated APT trains , but , oh so successful.

Yes, maybe they can convince a few British maintenance engineers to semi retire to Mexico.
I do wonder how the aircon will handle the Mexican climate, they could turn to the Australians for advice on that.

Interesting ideas. I think Northeast China to Northernwest Europe , via Canada may have a chance??? NZ and Australia is in the same boat (pardon the pun), much of our trade goes via Singapore to load to supermax ships. Then the Seuz canal route is faster , but the shortest direct distance(eastwards)...

I'm talking about trains , not cars. specifically for this corridor , of which there are examples running in Europe , in areas with similar winter conditions.
On a train , they would be heated while charging , and insulated well enough to stay warm. A lot more room to do so than a car.
