problem is for example the rail road property south of Scarsdale were sold to put up parking places for residents. its no longer owned by railroad .
scarsdale station when at one time having room lost that to high level platforms .

thanks for that post , a lot of people who ride cushions do not understand locomotives ride way worse.

Metro North stimulus would not pay for projects in Ct . that money would need to come via CDOT

my understanding is extension went in due to CDOT having to upgrade bathrooms .

they may want them back but I believe there is 3 year left on contract.

now we get to design , compatibility , RFP , actual purchase, and then construction.
my guess ?... 5 to 8 years for first car.

and what is interesting is currently CDOT owns 49 cars in MN pool plus 20 or so Mafersa cars for SLE plus Hartford leasers they want to double fleet size ??

I would not bet on numbering , the Document is NOT amtrak .

Branch was suppose to be shut dawn in May anyway to do fiver optic plowing and other improvements, so with current ridership at absolute low its best to advance project , only a idiot would disagree...

one company that made battery operated locomotives believe it was called Rail power is belly up its remains still part of RJ Corman, not sure if any have been sold since. the battery option is really not good for tunnel operations due to either battery gas or due to explosions of lithium type batter...

after a few Turbo train fires , NYFD is absolutely correct that safety is their concern , unless you want them on hold till first federal fire truck arrives ;-)

needles to say that FDNY is not fond of any fuel in NYP complex , the 3 LIRR FL-9ac had special fuel tanks with a sponge like material inside. (believe the DM's have same) , expensive and when damaged, the cost to replace was worth it to side line the Locomotive when that FL-9ac rolled into turntabl...

don't forget the P32-8bwh is a DC propulsion locomotive and despite being 3200 hp at max RPM they are a chunck less in HEP mode. engine rpm in HEP mode instead of 1047 is 900 rpm dropping HP to about 2700 instead of 3200. then depending on hep load it reduces the traction hp even further. also a DC ...

the BL20gh is a branch line locomotive the few places it can do 70 (its max) is not very smooth.
the passengers do not feel ride on engine.
