Yes I agree on the automatic door timing being laughable. I remember when they instituted the manual "waiting time" and it was five seconds.

That's not the point, and rideshare is actually really expensive these days. The point is there are racks on the cars, so why ban them? Bikes complement train service extremely well.
Extremely short-sighted. The ventures have good bike racks, especially compared to the laughable ones that convert from luggage storage on the Amfleet Is. I don't know what Brightline's move is here.
Always more money for capital than operational. The second platform at Clinton only opened last year, and Amtrak never even electrified track 6, that's why there's a run that doesn't go to NLC now, not even a DATTCO bus connection like before.
Thanks for posting the article; very well written.
An interlocking is being installed in Clinton, CT about 8 miles west of the Old Saybrook station, where one track is completely removed for replacement.
Why is the transportation center not air conditioned?!
Downeaster crews are truly S tier. Glad to hear of the ridership and your positive experience. Lately, reliability has been rocky due to mechanical issues. Not sure if that comes from the engine, cabbage, or coaches.
$5.25m per car is insane.
Yes, it resumed several days ago, albeit with delays usually every day.
A whole bunch of f'kin blah blah blah from Shaw.
The business class cars are always Amfleet Is, so actually all you're getting is worse legroom and nonalcoholic drinks in the cafe car.
It's not the heat; it hasn't been that hot. It's politics.
Pride events too.
Agreed!!
I'd much rather a train be a little late than consistently arrive early; it helps people plan better. But of course, on paper, OTP is a measure used by the penny pinchers. Not that ridership lost because of advertised travel time is a factor, too.
