Near the "rail horizon" in this photo (about 2000' inward/distant from where the photographer stood) you can see the tracks cross in the leftmost slots of the Harvard Ave bridge, and jog rightward to their current slots while the new interlocking is built on the new leftside alignment. I'...

BRT to the airport is a waste of time so long as it has to share the tunnels with traffic loads that will only continue to surge from Lyft, Uber, etc, and a dedicated BRT busway to the airport will cost far more than a single island between NS Under and SS Under. And even IF you somehow found a spa...

Problem is, Central station is one of the stations most worth building because it make every CR station now a 2-seat ride to the Airport. That's huge in this day and age. I disagree!! If the goal is rail to airport, the cost of NSRL central station could be better spent in improving speeds north of...

South Station would more accurately provide the two-seat ride to airport (Silver Line connection). Via Blue Line, realistically, requires most people take a shuttle bus. Chelsea will also provide the same, once the Silver Line opens there this spring. It might even be faster from the south of Bosto...

Just a crazy idea... If the NSRL gets built without the "central station" to connect to the Blue Line, wouldn't it work instead to connect to the Blue Line around Wonderland? Assuming that the NSRL north portal to serve the Eastern Route and Western Route allows for mainline speeds instead...

I think NSRL would have to happen to allow this. There's no way someone from Wellesley or Weston, making well over 6 figures, wants to do the commuter rail to red line to blue line connection. I agree NSRL is a must (in general) but a short-term fix could be a ferry from Rowes Wharf (not too far fr...

An even better option than the ferry, I believe... Since the RoW from the bypass road / Silver Line / Curtis Street area north is mostly unencumbered (except a little bit by that damn self-storage building) it would be far better to branch the Silver Line off at Curtis St. and run up to Suffolk Down...

It would be better IMHO if it were a Suffolk Downs to Assembly ferry instead (or in addition), since there's tons of people north of Boston who would probably like to be able to get to work at the casino without having to go all the way in to change at State. Unless / until there's a casino stop bui...

Just went by on an inbound Rockburyport train. There's a ballast regulator & hopper car just north of Sullivan, and there's a tamper just a little north of them roughly opposite Reading Junction.

This recent article raises a very interesting idea... turn the Suffolk Downs area into a "campus" for companies (Amazon in particular) and leverage that to expand the Blue Line in both directions. https://commonwealthmagazine.org/economy/attract-amazon-fix-t/ Personally I doubt that Amazon...

If you're against the gates / checking, it looks like bad news. Apparently the predictions by Keolis are coming true. https://commonwealthmagazine.org/transportation/fare-verification-spurs-electronic-ticket-sales/ According to Keolis, system-wide sales of M-Tickets increased fairly significantly ov...

I just saw the July 31 FMCB item which links to a map of the proposed monopole locations. Since I'm big on mapping :-D I think it's worth checking out.
