First I have seen. Shocked to see the LED ditch lights as it approached Elkhart.

Would have they still gone through with it, or would have they been looking at the existing DMU equipment from overseas sources? Existing equipment used overseas repurposed in Chicago? Never. New equipment designed for the American market that complies with American standards? As long as it also me...

Whether or not Metra "bails out" of the 200 car order depends on the serviceability of the current fleet and the penalty for cancelling the order. Once they decide how big the fleet should be they can work out a schedule that best fits the passengers. NICTD / South Shore is facing a simila...

The proposed 2024 rates will increase the monthlies, but otherwise reflect a reduction of fares. Compared to the pre-covid fares, the monthlies will also be a reduction. The "keep fares affordable and simple" is definitely reflected in the proposed rates.

Wherever the driver's mapping software of choice sends them. My father was a cab driver before mapping software and drivers had to know their way around town. I did a mapping project in the early 1990s on a computer and learned the name of every rural road in the county where I lived at the time (co...

I see the Capitol Limited nearly every day and have not seen a three car consist. The baggage car is easy to overlook. The Capitol Limited cannot run without either a second coach (one coach and one coach-baggage) or a baggage car with the single coach being a full coach. They need to have the ADA s...

Union Pacific does own the still active Southern Pacific trademark. I guess that means the merger is coming. :grinning:

Anything but diesel.

Although I'd prefer a more level grade, modern light weight passenger trains and engines will do fine.

Gotta build the line first. Any major changes (stations, alignment) would push the project back and require the EIS to be modified.

On pages 119-120 of the Decision, the Board required CPKC to provide the Board with certain operational metrics and data at stated intervals. To clarify that order, and to facilitate oversig...
