Whoa, that was surprising news and promising. Train frequencies between Boston and Beverly will also be increased to trains every 15 minutes. They also talk about eliminating any bottlenecks and single tracking. Wonder if that includes the tunnel and Salem Station. Edit: Yup, it looks like there is ...

Interesting that the 1533 got renumbered to 533. While it's a bummer that the 1533 is no longer a control cab this was kind of expected as all the overhauled coaches were going to have their controls disabled. I didn't realize they were going to renumber them. Wonder if that means all the future 150...

Is the Hampton Branch part of the old Eastern Row, or is it actually a branch?

Yes. That is a very good sign. It gives us more options to pick from. Hopefully we pick by what's the best equipment for our need rather than by lowest price.

Blast rock could be the abutments themselves. I don't think they are referring to loose fill, but rather the large rocks granite rocks used to build walls and abutments.

For example, here is a wall made of blast rocks: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/636414991062509087/

These actually look a lot more like scheduled phase 2 for reduced service than returning to pre-pandemic service. More service than the weekend schedules we have seen the last couple of months. But nowhere near the service levels we saw on the Newberryport / Rockport lines pre-pandemic. I know you m...

I believe it deteriorated to the point where they found it no longer safe for service.

Returned to my home town to visit Family over the weekend and got to stop by East Deerfield and see the yard. I also took a walk on the rail trail / bike path starting at East Deerfield and headed north towards Turners. What row as that trail originally? The B&M or the New Haven? Loved crossing ...

Does anyone know if there is track work going on in Salem? For the last week or two virtually every train on the schedule during the day has been sounding their horns. It sounds like south of Castle Hill / the tunnel so I don't think it's a case of a train exiting the tunnel sounding their horn when...

I also find it interesting that Lawrence that there was no Lawrence in 1837 but within a decade there was. I'm...
