I believe they have the capability to wash them at BET 3 months out of the year. However, I don't think it's done regularly, only when the train set is pulled out of service for maintenance / cleaning.

It is a problem though.

I once saw an Engineer cleaning the front headlights on a HSP46 at North Station in the evening before the train departed.

I wonder how often they have to do that.

Honestly, I have never noticed this issues in other CR Railroad photos. Don't read into that much, but I wonder if they address the issue or if there are different factors that prevent this issue from being so bad.

Do the trains have windshield washer fluid that can spray on the front windows? If not, the wipers may not do much good until it rains.

I have always wondered why all the produce cars are UP and have been less and less common in recent years. Where is the clearance issues that is preventing the modern cars from coming in? And when you mentioned trailers/containers does that mean the produce is being shipped by truck from another rai...

That makes me wonder if the MBTA/MassDOT will buy any of PAR's trackage.

If it's not all sold as one part that opens up doors like that.

For the most part, but the Bombardier Cab Cars can operate on the South Side post PTC upgrades.

I believe they are already in the process of updating all the grade crossings in Chelsea as well.

So, does that mean that these proposals have no weight behind them.

Is there any possibility of any of the things detailed actually happening?

So is 1533 still a control cab then?

Did the MBTA make 2 moves over the G&U?

Videos and photos I have seen so far seem to show 2 different Consists when reporting this move.

It's not really an issue of people being displaced in terms of a capacity issue. There is plenty of parking available in the garage. It never is full unless there is a snow ban and everyone who has on street parking downtown park in the garage. It would just be displacing people looking to save mone...

Is that back yard that contains the rails actually includes the rails? Or is the ROW still rail-banked?

Still hoping that one day commuter rail will be extended to Portsmouth.

Yes, space for a single track was reserved.

However, putting it back in would result in in the loss of some parking. That lot outside the garage that has $4 a day parking that fills up faster than the garage because it's a dollar cheaper.

Interesting news. The Castle Hill Yard is going to be restored and electrified for MBTA train set storage. It's looking like this project will be taking place 2026-2030 along with the electrification of the Eastern Railroad from North Station to Beverly. The Salem tunnel may also be expanded to 2 tr...
