Thanks. The new schedule, in terms of the total number of runs on weekdays, looks better than what we have now. I'm a bit concerned that there are a lot of trains that are only two or three minutes apart. This probably won't be as much a problem outbound from 69th Street Station, where the limited is followed by an express, and then a local. But inbound, a Bryn Mawr local is usually scheduled leave right after a Norristown express is scheduled to leave Bryn Mawr. If the express is a couple minutes late, it might end up being stuck behind the local to 69th Street. The Norristown and Hughes Park runs are also very close in time on the schedules, which may result in the first car that comes by filling up and the next one 5-10 minutes later being mostly empty.

Don't know if it's still there, but years ago when I was a regular user of the P&W, they had an indicator light at Bryn Mawr to tell when a southbound car was approaching. Assuming it's still there, an operator turning back on the pocket track there can look for that signal, and wait for the approaching express if the signal is lit.

I am looking at the new schedule as a Gulph Mills user. Inbound is pretty good in the PM peak with a train every 5-9 minutes. However, outbound from 69th street could be better. If you miss the 2 trains that are 2 minutes apart then you need to wait 13 minutes for the next. Would have been possible to send the Bryn Mawr local 2 minutes after the Limited then about 7 minutes after that send the Hughes Park train? That would cut the longest wait down to 9 minutes. Looking at the schedule it looks like the Bryn Mawr local would have time to get into the 3rd track at Bryn Mawr to get out of the way. Perhaps that would foul up the inbound too much.

Bob
