Back in the early 1980's I remember CR had to give New Jersey Transit a few of their retired E44's which were supposed to replace the GG1's. For whatever reason this did not happen. I remember seeing them at Elizabethport in storage (the old CNJ shop complex). Amtrak eventually inherited these motors for work train service and were painted silver and black. Whatever happened to these motors? I know one went the the RR Museum of PA and is now painted in PRR colors inside. Did AMT vere use these and if so does anyone have any photos to prove it? There is a cab of an ex AMT E44 outside at the RR museum of PA? Does anyone know why? Sorry for all of the questions, but I just have to know.
