I was looking over The Diesel Shop's GE production rosters out of curiosity and came across two locomotives listed as delivered to LI.

23/25ts
>7767 U.S. Army - Mitchell Field Garden City, Long Island, NY 18198 .
>? U.S. Navy - Naval Torpedo Station 4 Montauk Point, Long Island, NY 15707 . 7/1942

I'm interested in both - did Mitchell Field, during WW2, have a system beyond a spur requiring a 25t locomotive? How late was this retained? For the latter, i'm curious at the news the Montauk Naval Station operated a switcher for the same reasons

A couple of places to try - ask in https://cdsg.org/forum/ also their website may have some info regarding that as the Coast Artillery used railroads when they could, for example Fort Terry had one, etc. There's a good page about Mitchel Field on FB https://www.facebook.com/groups/148685605832448 they may have the info. One more is https://mitchelfield.weebly.com/ and scroll to the bottom.

I didn't know they locos at Montauk, I figured the rails I saw there were LIRR. You might get a glimpse of it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euVSvSAdKvE and https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=7axjnDpp9Zw

Good luck!
