I noticed recently that NJT seems to be changing the station announcements. The announcements which play at most stations are no longer preceded by the Windows XP-esque tone, and the announcements which play at major stations like Hoboken have switched to using a female TTS. I guess the male TTS voice they used before was pretty deep and more difficult to understand, but that doesn’t explain the removal of the tone from the other announcement type.
