Drove by there yesterday and was wondering about it’s history. Is it safe to assume it was part of the former two track line decades ago and then was made into a siding when the line was single tracked? And was this done because of both passenger and freight running on the same line or was the former B.P. power plant the only reason?

Milmay like many of the small towns along the Cape May Branch once had a freight/passenger station. As late as the 1950s there was enough fright traffic to justify the need for temporary car storage to load and unload while not blocking the main line for passenger service. as far as I know ConRail used it as a temporary storage track now and again when the line was busy to Beesley's Point. I do not know if CMSL has a specific use for it now that they lease the track.
