So I came across this thread in Reddit's Amtrak subreddit, and I'll summarize some of the points:
  • The Texas Eagle seems to be subject to constant delays and bus subsitutions.
  • A recent trip from Tuscon to Chicago was bus subbed around SAS with no reason (maybe too late?). This one was done in the heat of the summer in Texas, not only requiring special bathroom procedures... but also having five elderly passengers who sounded like they were not in any capacity to travel.
  • The post writer and companion opted to "abandon ship" and Uber'ed to an airport to finish their journey... like what happened five years ago.
This got me thinking... is the Texas Eagle constantly being bus subbed? (I am not going to get into the passengers named, just concentrating on the train's performance here.)
