Stationary: Construction on Rhinecliff Station is Delayed Indefinitely: Hudson Valley Pilot
...
“Amtrak has no idea when NYSDOT will complete the design. Once the design is done, it could be 6-12 months, or more, before any major work begins,” Rhinebeck Town Supervisor Elizabeth Spinzia wrote in an email to the Pilot. She went on to note that some minor work could begin sooner, but the larger “disruptive” work, including track relocation, platform work, and parking lot construction are all delayed until the design is finished, approved and implemented, whenever that may be. There is no set timeline for completion of the project, but officials at Amtrak, the Town of Rhinebeck and NYSDOT agree it could take years until finished, she said.

The Pilot reached out to representatives of Amtrak and NYSDOT with multiple questions about the scope, scale and timeline of the renovations. “The New York State Department of Transportation continues to advance plans to replace the existing low-level platform at Rhinecliff Station and add a new interlocking south of the station,” wrote Heather Pillsworth, Public Information Officer for NYSDOT. “Questions about the reconstruction of the Rhinecliff Station itself should be directed to Amtrak as they are the lead agency for that project,” Pillsworth added.

Jason C. Abrams, Senior Public Relations Manager for Amtrak told the Pilot that, “There are no plans to suspend service; however, there may be temporary schedule adjustments necessary for specific track work events. Notifications or alternate transportation options will be communicated well in advance of any temporary change.” Abrams added, “Amtrak will phase its construction work so that only one [parking] lot will be temporarily out of service at a time to complete lot improvements and to allow for maximum patron use.”
