Uniq. Eqpmt Sightings: Private Varnish (PV's), Charters, etc

Private car “Navy Inspection Car 118” will travel from NYP to PGH on train 43 (30).

The 109 year old car has been donated to Age of Steam Roundhouse Museum. I believe this will be its final voyage on Amtrak or a mainline railroad.

I just observed an eastbound Keystone Service pass through Leaman Place Junction on Track 4 (the track on the north side of the formation). It passed by the mainline crossovers at approximately 1714 local time, with the cab car facing to the east. This is the first time I’d personally witnessed an electric service traveling eastbound on the opposite track.

GOLDEN MOON and IMPERIAL LEAF were on train 42 Pennsylvanian Friday, photographed approaching Philadelphia's 30th Street Station.

Train 20 just passed through Odenton with one of the four Harry Potter locomotives leading and two private passenger railcars trailing! One of the railcars had the name “Georgia” and the other was an FRA railcar.

Sighting on Crescent:

Springtime brings out the private railcars all across the country. With three Amtrak long-haul passenger routes converging on New Orleans, we see a wonderful variety of privately-owned heritage railcars. This weekend was no exception, as two private cars brought up the rear of the Crescent on 5-May and another the next day.

Berlin Sleeping Car has some upcoming positioning trips which are affordable. They are between CHI-KC and KC-CHI one way. Day trips and Bedrooms available for $200 and $400 respectively. There's also third-party trips available out west including the Milwaukee Road Superdome.

Private cars, Salisbury Beach, Colonial Crafts, Lamberts Point and NYC 3 went on Train 49 this afternoon out of Penn Station NY.

On May 13, Amtrak Wolverine 355 set out two allegedly bad ordered cars at Livernois Yard, Conrail Shared Assets in Detroit. Believe they were Charter Wire cars. How would the owner arrange to get the cars repaired and moved to a location where Amtrak could pick them up?

Hmm, I wonder if a pinned thread for repositioning trips would be useful. I'd love to see more of these listed and perhaps pick up a ride there now and then.

Maybe I’ll do one specifically for scheduled public moves.
