I remember the dumping of "redbirds" but yes, subway cars were being dumped in the early 1960's.
I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for the info.

Found this when my girlfriend was cleaning out some old family photos. She said "this must be from California" but I immediately recognized the "rust bucket" cars. Any idea where this location could be?

No idea as to place, but time wise my first thought was after the retirement of the rust bucket fleet (when replaced by the current diesel country junkers), but the car, truck, etc. scream 80's! But why would these rust buckets be stored with freight cars?

I need the location of the photo below of the E.R.A. Gas Turbine Special on November 13, 1977.
Is this Peconic Siding or Carmans River [MP59] ?

Neat photo of what seems to me to be a very strange consist, a mix of single level (pre rust?) and the old double deckers.

What's the location of the bottom photo ?
I believe the location of the bottom photo is Riverhead. Looks like they are unloading newspapers from the baggage car, and a heavyweight parlor car is directly behind the baggage car.

Thank you.
Since I started this thread, I'd like to continue to post pics but am having trouble with this web site.
I'm getting a blue band stating "imgur is temporarily over capacity. Please try again later."
Is anyone else having this issue ?
