How many chimes do M1/M3/M7's horns have? What are the rules for grade crossings (long-long-short-long) that are not in quiet zones? and passing stations?

M1s have Single Chimes, M7 have 2 Chimes. Bolth of which are Leslies

M1's have Leslie #44 single trumpits

M3s just like M7s have Leslie RS2ms Leslie #44 and #30 trumpit.

Cabcars have Rs2m's also and the de/dms K5la and the canadian (K5l1a?)

The horns on the M1 are the worst horn's the railroad has now. but I could understand that since the M1's are in bad shape.

Leslie horns are VERY well know to clog up and get dirty VERY VERY easy, thats why alot of them sounds like crap, most where never cleaned. I tell ya, clean ones are LOUD and sounds VERY good. .
