I've read a lot if not most of the posts re:BNSF.

I applied for the Los Angeles location and received the following -
Thank you for submitting your resume to BNSF Railway.

At the present time we are unable to place you for this
position. Your resume has been added to our database,
and should we have an appropriate opening in the future,
we will contact you.

Thank you for your interest,

BNSF Railway
I was under the impression that they didn't weed you out until after the orientation.

How does the process work? This LA posting has come and gone a few different times recently.

Thanks

They normally don't weed out until the interview day
however they may have had so many applicants that
they took the first 100.

I would look up on the bnsf website the
phone number for hr and see if you can
get a straight answer as to why you did
not get an invitation to the interview date.

Hope that helps some.

I got the same e-mail, then 2 weeks later I was invited to a hiring session. I was told several hundred people applied, but a lot of applicants did not meet the criteria. 90 people were invited to the hiring session in total. Of those, only 13 were offered positions pending the outcome of the background investigation and the medical/strength/hearing/drug screening.

Good luck!

757,

That is true. If you just applied for the position and put your
resume in then you won't typically get an email from BNSF
until they have their hiring date.

Then they will send you an email for the interview.

Thanks guys. Appreciate your replies.

I missed the "deadline" for the LA posting previous to this one. There was no "drop dead" date on the posting and I didn't move fast enough.

I got the same "no thank you" letter from the BNSF a couple times.

BUt in the mean time I have been hired and actually turned down a Conductor Trainee job with the UP (because of the timing/start date) and I am now starting a Conductor Trainee position on Monday with the CP.

So it all worked out in the end but it does make me wonder why BNSF would not give me the time of day and the other two railroads hired me without hesitation??

I got the same letter too, then a month later, was invited to a hiring session. Go figure.
