Uniq. Eqpmt Sightings: Private Varnish (PV's), Charters, etc

Hello to all.

Observed PV NYC 448 on end of today's 449 departing Boston South Station. BTW, we departed a few minutes late at 12:19.

Train 42 Pennsylvanian had B32-8WH 512 on the point and PV Berlin on the rear.
HHP-8 653 took the train with Berlin from 30th Street to New York.

Was the private car returning soon
I'm supprised why the hhp8 would hook up to the car and not a regular coach

When they change locomotives at 30th Street the train basically gets flipped. So they take the diesel off of one end and put the electric on the other. Therefore if the PV owner decides to be on the rear from Pittsburgh/Harrisburgh then they are between the loco and the other cars on the way to NYP.

I wonder if its difficult to spot a train like that when you have the private car as first car to penn station

The train is 7 cars long. It fits on every platform from Philadelphia to New York.

371(14) had a solid Amfleet consist, something I haven't seen in decades.

Get used to seeing odd consists out West. A bunch of Amfleets are headed West to pinch hit for Horizons which are heading East and pinch hitting for Superliners. 370 and 371 will be this way for little while...my guess is mid October.

Train #19, the Cresent, has the PV "Berlin" in tow today, spotted in NWK just a few moments ago

Listening to the Central FL radio feed, I heard and Amtrak P935, ENG 166, call a clear signal at the south end of Deland Siding at 12:58 pm. Anyone know what this might be?

An equipment move.

Killing some time in ALX this afternoon, and 195 passed through with 5 PV's on the rear, including a dome (Southern Hospitality??) and a round-end observation car with an illuminated Crescent drumhead. Didn't catch the rest of the names.

You saw private cars PACIFIC UNION, CITY OF ANGELS, SWIFT STREAM, SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY and ROYAL STREET on Amtrak 195 from Washington to Richmond. This movement is part of American Rail Excursions' "Civil War Tour III" tour package from St Louis and Chicago to certain Civil War sites in the eastern states.

SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY is the dome; x-UP. ROYAL STREET is the observation; x-L&N. CITY OF ANGELS and SWIFT STREAM are both x-NYC bedroom lounge cars. Here is one to think about: What are the odds of seeing a pair of Budd built x-NYC bedroom lounge cars operating in the same consist in 2013?

According to heritageunits.com, the 42 Veterans loco is on train 42 The Pennsylvanian heading East right now if anyone is interested...
